Learn about snoring and its effects

Any noise caused during sleeping emitted through the respiratory track is known as snoring. The vibration caused in the air passages that connect the nose and the mouth due to extra relaxed throat muscles causes a person to snore.

Narrower the air passes, more vibration it produces as air forces itself out causing the loud snores. However, it is not necessary that a person snores at night only as snoring is induced whenever the throat muscles relax and it can happen each time the person takes a nap also. The tissues inside the throat become very soft and relaxed, when the person sleeps just like other muscles in the body. Thus the air passages narrow down and when we breathe, the inhalation and exhalation causes the tissues to vibrate leading to the noise. The snores can range from mild to heavy, which actually depends upon the pressure of air being passed which is directly proportionate to the noise it produces.

Snoring is not restricted to adults only but even babies’ snore sometimes. If you have a baby or a child who snores regularly, show him to a doctor immediately as it may be a sign of respiratory disease or an allergy. There are many reasons that a person snores which include allergies, side effect of some medicines, intake of dairy products at bedtime and many others.

However, a lingering question always persists as to why is that men snore more than women?

Well, after a considerable amount of research, it was found out that men snore more as men’s neck is wider than a woman’s and thus, there is more fatty deposits and fleshy tissue that vibrates in comparison to a women’s neck.

Women also produce Progesterone hormone that is considered to help reduce or to some extent prevent snoring. Looking at it objectively, there are various lifestyle changes that are required if you are thinking about improving your life and eliminating snoring. Obesity, extra weight and habits of drinking and smoking go a great length to increase chances of snoring. However, proper diet and exercise can definitely aid in reducing snoring.

To combat habitual night time snores, there are many over the counter medication and other devices that are known to have helped people. Nasal and throat sprays help in lubricating the air passages and can help reduce the obnoxious noise that snoring produces by reducing or completely eliminating snoring from the bedroom. Apart from the health issues that snoring accompanies, snoring creates rift between couples. It is immaterial whether you are married or living in, but due to snoring the intimacy is ripped apart while the non snoring partner leaves the bedroom to catch up on the much needed sleep which is not possible while sleeping with a snoring partner.

It becomes essential to look for a good anti snoring remedy as soon as possible. As every individual is a different entity, there is no hard and fast rule that what worked with your friend might work well with you too. Try them out, there is something that will reduce snoring.

Why do we people snore?

Vibrations of the soft tissues located at the back of the throats cause the noisy, annoying sounds of snoring that prevent non-snorers from getting their sleep.

The palate, uvula and tonsils are the tissue structures that flap against each other when someone has too much tissue at the back of their mouth or when an obstruction is blocking the air passageway to the back of the throat. Therefore, snoring is a sign of troubled breathing during sleep. The louder the snoring sound, the narrower the opening in the throat.

Why Snoring Is So Noisy?

The sounds of snoring tends to occur when the muscles of the throat relaxes a little too much for the throat to slightly close up more than normal when sleeping.

As the sleeping person is found trying to breathe through a tunnel area, that is smaller than normal and directly causes the softest area of the palate to move with vibration.  It is this vibration that creates the loud noisy sounds that throughout history caused many people to be the one joked about or even moved out on into a separate sleeping quarters within a marriage.  According to several recent studies, there are at least 40 million suffers of regular nightly snoring in the United States alone. If you or your spouse is one of these regular nightly snoring victims, if the problem is not resolved, the snoring will only get longer throughout the night and louder in noise with the aging process.

For many understandable reasons, most doctors tend to prefer not to take invasive actions for the final relief of snoring, because of the pain and recovery time of surgery also being highly risk taking and costly.  Instead of jumping into the realms of anti snoring relief from surgery, many physicians first strongly suggest trying life changes and the many safe anti snoring remedies that are now available on the market shelves, such as the clinically tested nasal delivery system, Asonor. Today’s doctors also highly recommend stopping smoking, losing weight, exercise more regularly, stop drinking alcoholic beverages, and to keep yourself sleeping on one side throughout the night with the means of packing pillows around your body.

If the snoring individual has become such to be suffering from extreme snoring and sleep apnea, there can be the purchase of oral devices that are to be fitted by a dentist for holding the jaw and tongue forward for keeping the airways better open.  Since sleep apnea is a serious health issue, there are also air pressure devices to stop the snoring.  One of the most popular ones is the Continuous Positive Airway Pressure device.  The way it works is by wearing a mask throughout the night that will force air pressure of the air down the throat airway and hold the air passage clear and open. No matter what kind of snoring that is being down and how you decide to go about stopping it, the most important point is to stop snoring for good so to finally get the night’s sleep that you and all those around you deserves.

Anti Snoring Remedies

There are many problems that snoring can directly and indirectly cause.  Not only can snoring annoy a bed partner to move out, but also there is now plenty of evidence that snoring has broken up more marriages than originally ever thought. Although snoring has always been a problem throughout human history, but the overall problem of snoring has now become to be directly affecting at least one in seven Americans and these statistics are only getting worse when looking further around the world population.  Not to mention that the snoring will also be a huge problem for all of those that must live with the one’s that snore.

Since surgery is only an option in the worst of cases, the more common ways to get relief from nightly snoring is to find the most individually fitting methods that can be found over the counter or even just by making some vital changes to your daily life style and habits.  When dealing with snoring directly, it is best to at first start analyzing how you live from day to day.  By checking all of your medications, many people will find that there is a regular medication or two that is more of a sedative form and these types of medications will cause snoring in many people.

Another thing to experiment with is keeping track of what you eat and when you eat your foods.   Some people have found that there are certain foods, such as milk and milk products that will sit back in the throat and coating the airways with the built up mucus, and this will cause some people to snore.  Another problem with foods and snoring occurs when individuals eat large meals too late into the evening.  It is always best to eat lighter meals and eating dinner earlier in the evening. You should also not drink alcoholic beverages especially before bedtime, because alcohol is a sedative that will cause the throat to relax too much during sleep and this is a main factor in snoring.

If you are one that is overweight or especially if you are obese, just by loosing the weight you can loose your snoring problem.  Eat less throughout the day; eat foods that are lighter and healthy, not the fast quick foods, but fresh fruits and vegetables instead.  Make sure to start a regular exercise regime for better optimum overall heath and weight loss.  Make sure to eliminate bad habits such as smoking and not getting enough nightly sleep.  In America alone, very few people now get the proper amount of very important and much needed sleep on a nightly basis.  It is now known that when there is a severe lack of sleep deprivation, there will be a heightened problem with snoring when you are finally sleeping.  Going to bed at a decent hour every night and getting the much-needed 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night can remedy this.

When having to go a little further in finding the snoring remedy that is fitting just for you, there are many affordable options of anti-snoring methods out on today’s market like the clinically tested and proven Asonor Nasal Delivery System, easy to use and help more than 70% of the snorer.

Snoring and breathing disorders

Of all the breathing disorders, sleep related breathing disorders are the most serious. These are categorized by frequent interruptions or complete stoppage of breathing of over 10 seconds that breaks the continuous flow of oxygen to the body, when asleep.

The most common breathing disorders are sleep apnea and snoring. As most of the symptoms are only surface when the person is sleeping, they go unnoticed and untreated, leading to serious health complications in the long run.

Although sleeping is a complex state controlled by the neurological portion of the brain, the main function is to provide rest and rejuvenation of energy and the body cells. Habitual snoring interrupts normal life with fragmented and restless sleep, drowsiness during day, low alertness, short memory span and other serious diseases such as sleep apnea.

Usually, snoring occurs in all stages of sleep but mostly, during the Rapid Eye Movement or REM sleep stage. REM stage is the deep sleep time when the brain sends instructions for muscle relaxation. However, in normal healthy individuals, the process of respiration is under neuromuscular automatic control but for people suffering from breathing disorders such as snoring and sleep apnea, relaxation of the throat muscles in REM stage may lead to low oxygen intake, erratic breathing patterns and heavy snoring.

Apart from personal discomfort and the inconvenience to the bed partner, regular snoring leads to higher chances of cardiovascular diseases, sexual dysfunction, hypertension, stress, poor concentration and in cases of severe sleep apnea, even death.

Reasons for Snoring

There are as many reasons for snoring as there are anti-snoring devices and products. For some people that snore, it may have been a problem for as long as they could remember, but for others, snoring may be a new problem for them. For those that have most always had a problem with snoring, there are many areas of exploration to be looking into for resolutions. But for the individual’s that may have only recently began snoring, their list of exploration for why they are now snoring, very well may be much shorter for linking the cause to a solid snoring reason. No matter if you have for a very long time or not, stopping the snoring is detrimental to your health. It just may be easier to narrowing down the cause, when the snoring is a new problem for you.

When trying to find as to why you are now snoring, one of the first things to do is examine any side effects of all of you medications, both over-the-counter, and all medications given by your doctor. This can easily be done by going to your local pharmacy, and having the pharmacist explain any side effects your medications may have. You also can do detailed searches on the Internet for each medication that you take. Just about any medication can be found with every detail of any side effects included. It is more common than you may think for there to actually be side effects directly related to your newly found snoring problem.

There are several health areas to explore, like colds, sinus issues, asthma problems, and allergies. Every one of these health issues are a common direct link to snoring problems. Since snoring is created within the throat area of were the breathing flow is, any kind of congestion, allergy and even asthma problems are the likely culprits to clogging up the air flow. If it is a cold or allergies, the appropriate fitting medication should fix the snoring problem. If it is more serious, like sinus or asthma, the doctor may be the first place to start for help. Another important tip is to add a humidifier to your room, so to add more moister to the air. It is best to use a humidifier that allows for menthol liquids to be added into the water. This is a sure fire way for a better night of sleep when having issues of colds and allergies.

Several other culprits that cause snoring are excessive weight gain, cigarette smoking or constant exposure to cigarette smoke, excessive alcoholic beverages, especially right before bedtime, and believe it or not, there are certain kinds of food products that can start a non-snorer to snore. Excessive dairy products right before bed can cause thicker saliva or mucus to sit within your throat airway passage area and literally cause you to snore. The best way to pin point if this is a problem, is to cut out all dairy products for a week, and see what the final results may end up being. If dairy is your problem, start to substitute soy products, so not to loose the health benefits, but only the snoring. If you are overweight, you can use over-the-counter anti-snoring medications until the weight is lost. If you are a smoker or drinker, get help to stop smoking and only drink no more than an occasional drink no later in the day than an early dinner.
